Beat Procastination

We are all guilty at time of putting things off for one reason or another. When we wait till the last minute or simply drop the ball because of procrastination, we have consequences. Why would folks be willing to suffer various consequences avoiding stuff that inevitably must be done anyway?

There are many answers but I will supply a couple common ones.
Feeling incompetent or lacking knowledge in a certain area is one reason why I put off doing stuff. We want to feel competent and knowledgeable because our pride makes us want to always be on top of things. We forget that, when we were children, we had to be teachable and when we fell we always get back up. As an adult we can adopt the child like approach to learning new things and leave pride and ego behind. Reward yourself even with small steps of progress and you will be motivated to take the next step. Another reason for procrastination is fear.
When our perception results in fear, human nature generally avoids those things. In my own experience, I have discovered that most of the time there was no reason to fear. We hear many voices in our head and need to put a filter on thoughts that limit us.
Occasionally, we all put things off for one reason or another. However, for those of us that have allowed procrastination to become a bad habit, realize that good and bad habits are learned behavior. Instead of just saying "that is just the way I am", why not try thinking and saying "i am becoming more organized and responsible every day". As you remember to change what you think and say and do on a daily basis, you will create a good habit. You will feel more competent and courageous as you get stuff done. Applaud and reward your self as you make progress one day at a time.
